Tyca Festival 2023 - Show Reel

Here is a taste of some of the amazing performances that happened as part of the Tyca Live Festival Day in June 2023. We will be releasing more footage of the performances over the next few weeks.
AND if you want to hear some of the spoken word performers live on BBC Radio Somerset listen in to Charlie Taylor's early evening show on August 21st just after the news at 7pm!

One of Arts Taunton’s most impressive ongoing projects which we are very proud to support is, of course, Tyca. We have been incredibly impressed by the scope and reach of each annual event, embracing a diverse range of arts activities by, and for, young people themselves.

This year’s spoken word, music and performance events were quite ground-breaking I feel in terms of the opportunities afforded to so many young people to experience working with professional musicians, composers, artists and theatre makers and showcase their talents.

Arts Taunton’s ability to forge exciting partnerships, engage with hard to reach groups and innovate has really changed the cultural landscape of the district, empowering children and young people who would never have had the confidence or opportunity to perform in public and realise their creative potential. I warmly welcome Arts Taunton’s plans for a bigger and even more ambitious event in 2023 which will be a first for the area - performances devised and delivered by young people and based on place-making and the history of the area.

This is something we will be very keen to support and we would assure other potential funders that the impact this project is likely to achieve will be very significant.”

Our thanks ...

In the face of our present economy we are especially grateful to the Brownsword Charitable Foundation, Somerset Council, The Schroder Charity Trust, Trevor Smallwood, Philip Gibbs, Arts Council England and our many other supporters for their ongoing and enthusiastic support for Tyca. Without them it would be impossible to enable the young people of Taunton to take part in what has now become a unique opportunity to express their creativity.
