Arts Taunton

About Tyca

Tyca stands for Taunton Youth Culture and Arts.
2019 was the year we launched this new youth arts festival and we included as many art forms as possible in this first year. In the coming years it will grow and grow! For 2019 we had everything from acrobatics to 3D art, graffiti to hip hop.

FESTIVAL WEEKEND COUNTDOWN 23rd - 24th October 2020

Theme 2020

We may all be in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic - but nothing is going to stop us from delivering a Tyca Festival for you this year!
It may not be live, it may be virtual, but it is HAPPENING! A festival for you to take part in and enjoy...

Our theme for this year’s Festival is:2020 Vision for the Future

Listen to our podcast to find out about this year's programme!

The Tyca Programme is full!

Check out the exciting and interactive events delivered throughout the Summer and what we have in store for our festival weekend - 23rd - 24th October.
We are bringing you a unique experience this year - a fully virtual festival!
Filmed at Tacchi Morris Arts Centre, outdoor and in other venues around Taunton, you will feel that you are part of the audience with these amazing performances.
We can't bring a fully live festival to you - but we can certainly make you feel that you are part the action!

We welcome Ian McNeice to Tyca!

We are very excited to announce that Ian will be joining the Tyca Festival this year!
Ian, who is well know to the public as Bert Large in the immensely popular Doc Martin or as Winston Churchill in Doctor Who, will be introducing the planned performances this year.

Our thanks ...

In the face of our present adversity we are especially grateful to the Brownsword Charitable Foundation, Somerset West & Taunton Council, The Schroder Charity Trust, Trevor Smallwood, Philip Gibbs and our many other supporters for their ongoing and enthusiastic support for Tyca. Without them it would be impossible to enable the young people of Taunton to take part in what has now become a unique opportunity to express their creativity.
